West Jakarta Water Resource Sub-agency Continues River Dredging

West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency remains continuing the river dredging after the water lever recedes.

We deploy 20 heavy equipment

West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency Head, Purwanti, said the dredging was suspended due to the increase of water level several days ago.

"Then we continue the dredging on Wednesday since the water level decreased in Pesanggrahan, Angke, and Mookervart Rivers. Other rivers such as Semongol and Pedongkelan to be also dredged," she said, Friday (3/7).

Commission D Commends SDA Agency's Efforts in Handling Floods

Purwanti explained that the river dredging was stopped by considering the personnel safety. The strong river flow is also feared to sweep away the equipment.

According to her, the dredging of Semongol River has entered the third stage out of two kilometers total lenght that includes Jalan Menceng Raya up to Jalan Satu Maret segments.

"We deploy 20 heavy equipment for all rivers dredging in West Jakarta," she continued.

The dredged mud and garbage will be disposed to several areas such as Ancol, North Jakarta.

"Hopefully the dredging will make the rivers to function optimally especially in handling flood," she stated.
